Same day, two shots
I have been wanting to get a photo of this building so I could show you those giant address numbers in front for a long time and I found myself at the right place Sunday just about midday. The sun was high overhead and even though I tried to shade the lens, the result was this shot with the street and sky and even the parking lot completely white.
I decided to go back in the early evening when the sun would be low in the western sky and get a shot that shows the street in more favorable light. When I downloaded the second photo and compared the two, I decided to use them both. The over exposure of the top photo really isolates the building and makes it the center of attention. The second photo is more natural and shows how the street really looks.
The whole purpose of showing you this building was to show those giant address numbers. A most unusual way to display street numbers. I'm guessing that mail carriers and delivery men will not have any trouble finding this building. That is unless the numbers are so big they look right past them trying to find the normal sized address numbers.
The mail man, who does that particular route, must have very poor eyesight ;-) Spectacular... no pun intended!
ReplyDeleteJust what I could have used when I drove dial-a-bus at night in the the dark.
ReplyDeleteVery box like in it's looks and really does stand out
ReplyDeleteProbably they get a lot of mail :)
ReplyDeleteThe first is not bad, but I prefer the second shot.
The difference is amazing. I really like those giant adress numbers.
ReplyDeleteCall the authorities next time. They need to remove all those wires before your next photo!
ReplyDeleteInteresting comparison. I have had so many photos ruined by a white sky but in this one it works.
ReplyDeleteThe red white and blue is very appropriate for the the 4th of July.
ReplyDeleteSharon, I love this pairing! The first photo is so stark. Wonderful! And the second one is nicely realistic. But, paired, they are better than the sum of the two individual photos. (And, I admire the boldness of the architecture . . . the huge numbers fit nicely.) Bravo!
ReplyDeleteI too like that you showed us both pics. The second one seems warmer but the first is so dramatic!
ReplyDeleteI really like the first one, it's kind of artsy. Now I always miss American numbers, I'd be in heaven here!
ReplyDeleteThey can see those numbers from space!
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool idea, to take a prosaic element of any building -- the street address -- and make it a core architectural feature. I like it!
ReplyDeleteYup I'm with Ciel, for the same reasons AND the great reflections in the lower windows that you don't see in the second shot.
ReplyDeleteI like the big numbers.
