The Young and the Restless


Remember those baby roadrunners I introduced you to around mid-May?  The nest is empty now but the mother bird is till watching over her brood.  I went to the garden Sunday morning at 6:00 AM and caught sight of the mother bird out hunting and the three young ones following along.


However, they didn't follow mom into the heavy brush to see how it's done.  Instead they started climbing the rocks and playing around with each other while mom did all the work.  It must be those "teen" years.

    Terrific post. That first shot, especially, is so expressive. Love how you got all the detail sharp. I'd not want to get in the way of those talons!

    Sounds about right. They will wish they had paid more attention to their lessons when the parents stop feeding them.
