Whirlwind

This sculpture sits outside the Glendale Public Library and it's called "Whirlwind" created by Gary Slater.  It was purchased by the Glendale Arts Commission as part of it's public arts program.  It really shines when the sun hits it just right.

  1. I'd call it Maria! I'll be you could hurt your eyes looking at it on really sunny days!

  7. If you were to come in close, I'll bet you could get some amazing detail shots, including some amazing reflection shots.

Good that Glendale is still buying public art. I don't see too much new public art of significance around here. Money is tight, I guess, and when new public art is in the budget, the people who buy art keep buying politically correct things without much quality (IMHO).

  8. Bravo for the public arts! This looks a little like a hood ornament to me, though.
