I really wanted to use this photo yesterday for theme day but, that would have been cheating since this one was taken in Paris France and not Phoenix Arizona. On my last trip to Paris, I had an opportunity to tour the famous
Poilane Bakery where they still bake their famous sour dough bread in a brick oven. They do have a more industrial sized bakery in the suburbs somewhere but, the bakery in the city still uses the original brick oven.
Each loaf of bread is baked in a basket and then marked with a "P" on the top!
this is cool!
ReplyDeleteso glad you included this apres theme day post!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, this is wonderful. I'm going to have to put it on the list of places to visit if and when we get back to Paris! I think I can smell bread baking. Better check the kitchen. Nope, nothing there. Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteAs you know, the bakery in Tamarindo that I posted was called the Bakery of Paris, but it did not look anything like this.
ReplyDeleteOh, how I would love to start my day with a big slice of this and a tub of fresh farm butter!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was about 12 or 13 my Mom worked in a bakery. I used to go up and help on the weekends to make a little extra money. Then the grocery store opened a bakery and the neighborhood bakery went out of business. :-(
ReplyDeleteSomething I remember very fondly about my short time in France as a child, was the wonderful smell from the bakeries and all the goodies to be had.
ReplyDeleteI remember you telling me about that place. P could be for Poilane or Paris or maybe even Phoenix!
ReplyDeleteOh God, is this an old bakery!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and interesting shots, Sharon!
i like the new look.
ReplyDeleteSour dough - I want some. Love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great place and a great photo!
ReplyDeleteDo they really bake each loaf in a basket?! So nice.
I posted an old brick oven too, but mine is cold; yours is HOT.
Oh, I have enjoyed their bread and been to several of the stores in Paris, but have never been on the tour - just put it on my list!
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
Oh I smell that wonderful aroma from sour dough baking. This was truly a tour to remember!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet they make heavenly bread.
ReplyDeleteP could have been for Phoenix.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! I hope you were able to taste a few samples.
I wonder how old this is. Great post!
