Sunday Bath

I had never seen a hummingbird bathing before last Sunday.  What a treat to watch.

  4. Aw...looks like a mini version of a "real" bird. ;-)

Nice photo! I've not seen anything like this at all. I've always thought hummingbirds were always winging it.

  5. I have seen a hummer on the edge of my bird bath, but never actually bathing. Too cool! I was amazed at how it could stand there...it didn't have a branch to hold on to. It's little feet were out flat.

  6. I love it Sharon, such a sweet little bird, with a very long beak!

  7. Did he sing in the shower, and get all the soap from under his wings? Nice shot. You had to be quick!

  10. I just read the book "The Big Year". Amazing how the hummingbirds fly from the Yucatan in Mexico 500 miles across the Gulf in a single nite. The movie was pretty good too. Makes you want to be a birder. My guess is that's a Black Chinned Hummingbird. But, I'm no real birder.

  11. It is fairly rare to see one at rest at all. Though we did see them stop for awhile after spending all day at our feeder in Phoenix way back when. I wonder if they sleep.
