Sculptor
Another photo from the Celebration of Fine Art. This is Gedion Nyanhongo, a very talented sculptor. Gedion was born in Zimbabwe and he uses Opal Stone, Springstone and Nyanga Stone to create his works of art. To see more of his work, click here.
I don't know if I'd have the courage to actually do my artwork in front of people. It does take some skill as far as blocking people out for the concentration factor.
Looks like he is determined "to get it right!" Great portrait of an artist at work. Thanks for the link, I enjoyed it; he is indeed a talented sculptor.
Wow great shot Sharon, this brought back memories for me. I lived in Zimbabwe (it was Rhodesia then) for over ten years, it was fun to watch the artists even then.
Great portrait. This piece is really interesting. I've seen a lot of African art in my travels but don't remember seeing three figures carved like this ever.
I like his motto too: "Life is a gift."
ReplyDeleteYou captured him very concentrated on his work and not at all distracted. Bravo!
I love shots of people at work and this one is super!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to see the artist at work

This is just beautiful! How do you do that? Such talent blows me away!

ReplyDeleteSo intense. That's a beautiful stone he's working in. To see what's on the outside yet still envision what's hiding inside, is such a talent.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work!
ReplyDeleteLots of concentration on this beautiful piece.
ReplyDeleteWow - that's lovely! So nice to see the artist at work.
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy watching artist at work, this is a great shot.
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty special being able to watch the sculptor at work.
