Hello There!

I had my camera focused on this elaborate nest wedged between the arms of a large cactus when all of a sudden this cactus wren popped out to see what I was up to.  I like the way he's grabbed on to two cactus needles to support him at his front door.

Your timing was perfect. I doubt that many predators would try to get this bird's chicks. Great place for a nest, but coming and going might be a little prickly!

What a great surprise that she popped out just at the right time.

If this bird ever has an itchy back, it does not have to go far for a scratch. Amazing photo.

I think is so amazing how these birds use a cactus for it's home, nest, and protection!

Have never seen this before Sharon, would not have expected a bird to be nesting in such a prickly spot, but it makes sense when you think about it!! Excellent shot.

Absolutely amazing shot! Talk about serendipity! It seems the little wren wanted to find a protected place for its nest!

Such a neat surprise! I think I've seen this nest before at DBG? Maybe?

Wow what an amazing capture, stunning.

It would be fun to get a group of us bloggers connected at the Blue Bird...

How lucky that was! The birds that nest here need not worry about cats climbing up to raid the nest! Perfect protection.

Being a guy instead of a cactus wren is a pretty good deal. Nice timing!

So intricate and beautiful are the ways of nature.
Look at the place where she has built the nest.
All those thorns will ensure total protection.
