Swing
I spotted this tire swing in the front yard of a home over the weekend and it got me thinking that I hadn’t seen a swing like this in a very long time. As a kid, I never experienced one of these even though I had seen plenty of them. My parents bought us girls a proper swing set so we never played around with one like this.
My grandparents farm had a tire swing. That tree has a the perfect branch for swings.
ReplyDeleteOh I remember playing on a swing like that
ReplyDeleteWe never had one either! But this one looks very picturesque.
ReplyDeleteThe composition is great! I don't remember experienced one of these either.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure this is Phoenix? It looks more like Arkansas.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that some parents still do things like this for their kids. We had a tire swing on a big old tree in our back yard when I was a kid. It was wonderful fun.
ReplyDeleteI can just picture a child standing on that tire and another child pushing it higher and higher. You don't see many swings like this in cities.
ReplyDeleteI've had a bad experience on one of these swings before :-(.
ReplyDeletemotion sickness gets to me and it wasn't fun to say the least.
great photo - it brings back childhood memories for sure!
I remember we had a tire swing over the local creek - great fun!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw this post title I thought it would be about golf. I like this better. You know what Jimmy Buffett says: "Life is like a tire swing".
ReplyDeleteWe had one and what fun it was to twist the rope around and around and then let it go. You were pretty dizzy at the end. This might be what Andrew was doing.
ReplyDeleteI've seen them before but never tried it. Nice shot.
ReplyDeleteThey are better than any other fancy swing set! That branch looks like it was made just for it, and together with the covered front porch and gorgeous yellow flowers, it's a little plot of heaven!
ReplyDeleteSo much nostalgia generated from one photo. Which, incidentally, is very good. The tree is magnificent!
ReplyDeleteOh, you poor deprived thing. Go back to that house and play on that swing. But you need to have a cousin or brother to push you around in big circles. :)
ReplyDeleteI had one of these as a kid. They were, indeed, great fun. I didn't know anyone who had a real swing, then. That would have been for the very rich, I think.
