Malachite
My favorite butterfly is the Malachite Butterfly and I was a little disappointed when I didn’t see any in this year’s spring showing of butterflies at the Desert Botanical Garden. I visited several times and on my last visit, I finally saw one and only one. They arrange sliced oranges on various feeder plates inside the pavilion to give the butterflies something to taste other than the large variety of flowers. The one lone malachite butterfly that I saw was sitting on an orange slice on a rather colorful glass dish. I think the combination of colors makes an interesting photo.
This is a beautiful shot. I love the muted colors.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen this butterfly, it is beautiful. Lovely shot.
ReplyDeleteWell, you know how Julie feels about butterflies. She will enjoy seeing this. I wonder if they have this variety in the wild in Arizona.
ReplyDeleteThis is truly gorgeous, Sharon! It's a brilliant composition.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful butterfly, Sharon. I don't know much about them, although I enjoy seeing the colorful ones. We have a place in Florida, and this past winter we re-landscaped the back and included several plants that lure butterflies. So glad to have their company.
