Ancient Egyptian Flowers

These are blooms from the cactus in my back yard, but they reminded me of the Egyptian flowers you see in hieroglyphic paintings.

Isn’t there a similarity?

  1. The flower bud may look similar, but the Egyptian woman in the hieroglyphic is holding the flower stem in her hand. I don't think she would hold a cactus flower that way.

Interesting how the ancient Egyptians had a sense for color coordinating the aqua color of the flower bud, the hair piece, and the woman's dress and jewelry.

  3. I love these blossoms. My cacti like this have been blooming quite often this summer.
Good eye on seeing the similarities.
