Summer Dreams
This building is now sitting vacant, possibly a victim of the sad economic times. I don’t know what type of business used to be housed here, but visions of splashing waves are on the mind of we Phoenicians as the hot summer months roll by. Perhaps the former tenant had sweet dreams of cool ocean breezes and thought this mural would make him feel cooler when the temperature rises to triple digits.
Now you've got us curious. I like the architecture and the painting makes me think of B. Squared's murals in Fort Lauderdale. Wonderful Seussian tree (and shadow) too.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great: house, mural and trimmed tree (it reminds me of the thai gardens). Very cool composition!
ReplyDeleteSuch a "cool" looking building to be sitting all alone. :-(
ReplyDeleteThe wave on the left looks like it comes from a classic Japanese print, which I think dates to the 1920' or 1930s.
ReplyDeleteSeems like the heat is building in P-town.
ReplyDeleteThis is a rather unique structure, and rather elegant...maybe it was a marine museum? Whatever, it is sad that it sits empty. The mural is quite striking and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteA lone tree in what looks like a rock garden and a variation of Hokusai's Wave — whatever the business was, the owner must have been a fan of Japanese art.
ReplyDeletevery cool building. i think murals can add so much to a drab wall
ReplyDeleteThis whole image is so artsy - the mural, the colors, the shape of the building, and that fantastic tree - it all works so well together.
