This is the Phoenix headquarters for the Boy Scouts of America. This beautiful, Spanish styled building is dedicated to two Boy Scout Executives who according to the plaque on the side of the building, have a combined 80 years of service to scouting in Arizona. The honor was bestowed by the staff and volunteers of the Grand Canyon Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Are they still a popular organisation with young boys?
ReplyDeleteI just love colonial spanish style and I've seen some amazing buildings in Central and South America. However it's a shame spanish have used the stones of the already existing constructions in the cities they destroyed!...
ReplyDeleteGladly this is not the case! :-)))
I did not know that this was the BSA's home.
ReplyDeleteI visited this building every month when I was a Cub Scoutmaster, as I had to pick up the patches and awards that each boy had earned to be awarded at the Pack meetings each month.
ReplyDeleteSharon, not to be a stickler, but this is technically not a building of the Boy Scouts of America, but of the local council that operates the Boy Scouts in Arizona, which of course is affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America.
Oops! I guessed wrong!
ReplyDeleteLovely building...there's the fountain!!
ReplyDelete80 years of service! Wow! Nice way to honor that accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteCurioso y muy bonito.
ReplyDeleteNice looking place.
