This is unusual. I don't think I have ever seen a prickly pear growing on a saguaro. I wonder where the roots go. This is like a epiphyte growing on a jungle tree in Costa RIca.
I have a photo of this very same thing from my brother's yard in Tucson. We're pretty sure a bird of some sort "deposited" the prickly pear seeds. Great shot.
