When I first moved to Phoenix, many, many years ago, I worked directly across the street from this office complex in the midtown area. Santa in his sleigh pulled by those flying reindeer soared between these two buildings way back then and has done so every year since. It just took me all this time to get a picture of it.
In 27 years of living in the Phoenix area, I have seen the same lighted Santa flying between the two buildings, but have never taken a photo. Having a Daily Photo blog certainly does cause one to make a photographic record of matters that you would not previously have photographed.
ReplyDeleteWhimsical! What fun for the kids, both young and old.
ReplyDeleteI don't imagine it's easy to shoot this right but you captured Santa in flight perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable!
ReplyDeleteOh I am so happy to see that they are still putting this up. Its so nice that some of good things never change. Have a happy Sunday Sharon.
ReplyDeletenow that is a great photo! very clever.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely, Sharon!
ReplyDeleteEvery Christmas when I was a child, we drove downtown to see the decorations and this was the highlight. So wonderful that he's still there, and great also to have a photo of it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this. Found your blog while searching for history on this piece of Phx history. Have lived in Phx since 1965 and I believe this display has been erected annually since I was a child, or at least in my teens. I currently live in an apt with a view of this and have enjoyed seeing it day and night. Even walked my grandkids over there one night for hot cocoa while gazing up at Santa. This year, they put the display up the day after Thanksgiving and it was just taken down this morning. Sadly, I didnt catch them in the act either time...so, maybe their is some real Christmas magic afoot?
