The Allan Houser sculpture exhibit opened at the Desert Botanical Gardens on Saturday and I spent four hours there viewing the sculptures and enjoying the beautiful weather. Allan Houser is one of America's best known artists, known world-wide as a sculptor, painter, and teacher. His work can be found in museums and collections around the world.
The above photo is of a sculpture called Spirit of the Wind and it was one that could be viewed from all directions with subtle changes at every angle.
I added the small photo to give you a different perspective.
We will have to check out this exhibit. This looks like a similar concept to the Chihuly exhibit at the Desert Botanical Garden last season.
ReplyDeleteYour Desert Botanical Gardens seem to hold a lot of art exhibits too — I like the idea. I think it's a great way to get people to appreciate art and nature.
ReplyDeleteI think this piece is beautiful too. Very elegant. And I just love the title.
I'll be in Phoenix in late February-will the exhibit still be at the Gardens? I hope so!
ReplyDeleteWe will have to go see this exhibit when we come to the valley.
ReplyDeleteTo answer Anonymous, this exhibit will be at the garden through May 30th, 2010. Be sure to stop at the Heard Museum too. The Allan Houser exhibit there will run through August 22nd, 2010.

ReplyDeleteAnother great shot! Really like this angle with the yuccas(?) on the foreground.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos of the Houser exhibit. Wish I could see them in person myself! And the photo of the blue glass building and the sky is spectacular - love it!
