On my busy weekend of February 7th, one of the events I visited was the High Noon Western Americana Event, an Antique Show and Auction featuring high quality Western and Native American art and collectables. (I posted a picture of a beautiful saddle from there on February 12th.) While I was there, I met this lovely young woman dressed appropriately in this glamorous western attire. I was told that her outfit was created by Nudie Cohn, a Ukrainian-American tailor who became famous for his rhinestone encrusted suits worn by celebrities such as Roy Rogers, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and even Elvis Presley and John Lennon. You can read more about Nudie's interesting life here.
This young lady was part of a group known as the Golden West Cowgirls who participate in many events throughout the southwest.
She must have tinkled when she walked. And I am guessing the whole outfit adds a few pounds. Nice photograph indoors.

The old name Sparkle Plenty popped into my head. I know that character wasn't wearing western gear, but it still seems appropriate for this twinkly outfit!
ReplyDeleteThe outfit is very eye-catching but I must say my preferences go to the previous post... :-)))
ReplyDeleteWhat an elaborate costume! Wonder how long it takes to design and make an outfit like this? Your two views are wonderful.
ReplyDeletesuch an intricate fancy western outfit. great capture
ReplyDeleteI can visualize Roy Rogers or Elvis wearing clothes by this designer, but not John Lennon.
ReplyDeleteI see what you meant about the comparison with my peacock. The outfit would be great for an entertainer. I think the hat would be heavy though and might give me a headache if I wore it too long. I bet the whole outfit is heavy. I'll just stick with my old jeans.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures.
Now that's a oufit.
ReplyDeleteI bet that was heavy but what an effect it must have with the light twinkling off it..
