This beautiful fountain is located next to the City Hall building that I featured on August 31st. This fountain and the area surrounding it is dedicated to Marvin Andrews who served as City Manager from 1976 to 1990 and whose overall career with the city spanned 32 years. In 1984 he was named City Manager of the Year by City and State Magazine, In addition, while serving as City Manager, the city was awarded the “All American City” status three times. Mr. Andrews passed away in 2004 and this space was dedicated to his memory in 2008.
If you look closely through the water, you can make out the sign on the side of the marquee for the Orpheum Theatre next door.
This looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt always saddens me when things are dedicated to people after they pass away. Why not do it when they are alive?
ReplyDeleteA pretty spot to sit and listen to the splash of water.
ReplyDeletethis is very nice information and a great scene. I will have to visit this mini-oasis
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteI love fountains. This one is outstanding!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful memorial, but true like dave said why not in his lifetime?
ReplyDeleteA lovely fountain. I love water features of all kinds
ReplyDeleteThis is a magnificent looking fountain. I love the soothing sounds that flowing water makes. It's a shame the man it was dedicated to couldn't have seen it while he was alive.
