Bougainvillea

Bougainvillea is a flowering plant native to warm climate areas around the globe. The plants are popular because of their rapid growth and year round blooms. There are many varieties of this plant with blossoms of different colors. I have several of these plants in my yard including the one pictured above which is a hybrid that instead of blooming in big full clusters, the flowers bloom at the ends of a stem in a close formation. I’m sorry I don’t know the name of this particular hybrid but, I love the way it looks.

  1. Nice colors. We should could use some colorful flowers up here in Minnesota right now, where the outdoors is anything but colorful.

  4. Los Angeles is crawling with it, and I never get tired of those beautiful colors. IN my former house, we had a wall in the back yard covered with yellow, pink, burgundy and purple bougainvillea. I've never seen this variety up close before but it's lovely.

  5. One of my favourite flowers. Wonderful to see a bright flower like that today. The Brits don't particularly like bright flowers. I do miss them.

  6. Oh how beautiful. I've always loved bougainvilleas when I've been abroad somewhere hot. I've never tried to grow them though - it's far too cold here!
