We had our art challenge meeting at my friends Julie and Dave's house last weekend. While I was there, I took a photo of the protea blooms Julie has in her kitchen. I think there were four of them in the vase and they are all artificial but they look so real.
They saw the real protea plants on a trip to South Africa last year and liked them so much, they brought these silk ones home to decorate the kitchen.
They look so exotic.

They grow really well here as well, there's plenty of gardens with thriving established proteas. They are very alike to the native banksias.
I wonder if they would grow in the Valley of the Sun?
Gorgeous, Sharon. I thought that they were real.
Silk flowers have come a long, long way from when they first came out. These look real!
I bought some real ones at a florist many years ago. They're pretty but very bizarre.
