Rain and Fog in the Desert

It was a beautiful evening last Friday but on Saturday it rained all day long and all night.  It is unusual here in the desert to have rain that lasts for so long.  On Sunday morning, I heard there was fog in some of the low areas so I decided to snap a photo of my view of the mountains.  They were barely visible.

Two hours later, I couldn't see the mountains at all and the heavy clouds persisted all day long. You can tell from yesterday's photo of the Herberger Theatre that the sky was still heavy with clouds late into the afternoon.

On Monday, the sun started to peek through the clouds from time to time and by 5:00 PM, my view of the mountains was once again clear.  It wasn't our normal desert weather but it was a welcome diversion.

Yes in winter we have those 'spectacular sunlight" photos too.

At least it is not snow.

It's nice to have the variability of weather instead of an incessant sameness.

It feels like it has been dull & grey here for days but at least it isn't snowing. The sun must have been a welcome sight when it came out, Sharon.

Even on the worst days, the desert is gorgeous. Your camera is magic! You make everything enticing. These shots are wonderful!
