I was at Julie and Dave's house Sunday evening while a mountain rescue operation was going on. It was late in the day (around 5:30) so it was starting to get dark. Obviously, I think it's crazy to go climbing a treacherous path in the late afternoon but, apparently that's just me. As Julie and Dave can attest, it happens all the time. They have witnessed many such rescues.
I apologize for the quality of these photos. I blame it on hand held telephoto shots at slower shutter speeds because it was so late in the day. At least you can make out the guy in the lift being pulled up toward the helicopter. That's not a ride I care to take!

Risky business in a darkening sky!
Often people's poor judgment gets them into trouble, and sometimes risking the lives of others. Do any of them have to reimburse the cost of the rescue, I wonder? Always want people to be safe, though.
The first responders are amazing....and very busy. Dave and Julie have a front row seat to all the action.
Dramatic! At first I thought (based on your title) that the blurry lights in the second photo were some kind of helicopter crash -- glad to hear that's not the case.
Hopefully he learned a lesson. Thankful for the people who rescued him, what a tough job to have to risk their lives for some person's bad decision.
It is usually bad judgment. Fortunately these people train for that.
Me neither Sharon, thank heavens for the rescue service, I wonder if they get a wee bit fed up when called out for reckless adventurers ✨
