Clothing Designers in the Making

The last time I was at Scottsdale Fashion Square, I noticed a display in a vacant store front for ASU's Herberger Institute for Design and Art.

The information said that these were student projects for a Fashion Construction class.  The students were challenged to create new clothing from used clothing and make them versatile enough to work for different occasions.

There were quite a few interesting pieces in the display. The reflections made them difficult to photograph but, these two shots aren't too bad.  I did manage to catch the photographer in the last shot.  😁

A really terrific endeavour; helping young designers and repurposing materials and styles!

I always seem to have old worn out jeans around! These people could reuse them!

pretty cool! Reminds me of the first couple of seasons of Project Runway, which were good/cool, before they got into the drama drama aspects. :)

I love that top one. Quite creative! I wonder how comfortable it would be to wear, though...

(Obviously on me it would be quite UNcomfortable!)

Nice creative work using used jeans. My wife made some place-mats with used jeans years ago and we still have a few.

Gosh the first creation is pretty amazing, imagine the patience to take apart and put together all those denim jean waistbands 😱
