Birds of a Feather
I was taking a walk at the Japanese Friendship garden when I spotted this fellow watching me from behind a large bush.
Then I moved a little so I could get a better view. He stayed put and posed beautifully while I snapped a few photos.
Then he decided I had taken enough and he flew up into a nearby tree. I snapped one more before he flew off into the distance.
I'm so thankful that I live in a big city with all the amenities it provides but I still have so many options for communing with nature. It's a perfect combination.

Beautiful bird photos, especially the first one !
Boy he can raze his neck when he wants
You certainly have the best of both worlds!
Fantastic photos today!
Excellent captures Sharon.. gosh that neck is long when stretched out!
I do believe you have captured a Green Backed Heron! Great shots!
You have turned into a birder photographer. I don't think I'd find any better photos in the best "bird " coffee table book. Zounds!
Quite a distinctive bird!
Fabulous pics of this guy, Sharon!
Wow, those are some beautiful photos of the bird, Sharon. He was the perfect model for you. I can't believe he can stretch his neck so far, it's incredible.
Wow!
Those pictures turned out really well! He is indeed a green heron, as someone said above. I love that last shot -- he looks like he's trying to be threatening. :)
