There was a group from the Ryan Polequaptewa Dance Group on hand at the Desert Botanical Garden on Sunday to perform the Hopi Butterfly Dance for the crowds who gathered. Their costumes where colorful, just like the butterflies they were representing.
The group performed several dances and at the end presented the garden with a placard signed by all of them to display inside the new butterfly pavilion.

Looks like you had a fun day.
A celebration of spring, I guess?
Those headpieces are pretty remarkable. Love the traditional dress of our Native American people.
How fun !
This would have been such a treat to see in person!
Wonderful!
That must have been great fun. Love the native dress. And I wonder who choreographs these dances or do they learn them as children?
Very colourful!
I've got a post coming up from Winterlude- a group of Inuit youth who did several demonstrations of activities in the far north.
How suitable is that, Sharon!
That last little butterfly doesn't look real pleased.
How fun! I love their costumes.
What a super bonus Sharon, aren't their costumes a delight. I do love the sound of your Botanical Gardens 😊
