Chance Encounter

I have not seen any of these peach-faced lovebirds anywhere around where I now live and I do so miss seeing them play in my back yard at the old place.  Weekend before last, I was driving around  an area not too far from where I live when I heard the distinctive call of these funny birds.  I parked the car and started walking around to see if I could see where they were and sure enough I spotted a whole group of them scattered about in three different trees.

They kept a close eye on me.  They probably wondered what I was doing and why I was pointing that contraption at them.  The one's that used to play in my yard got used to seeing the camera and didn't seem to let it bother them.

This group was a little more timid but I managed to get a few shots anyway.  I wish I could lure them to the tree outside my balcony.

I do remember the posts on your backyard's peach-faced lovebirds, glad you could see and photograph these ones.

Gosh they're so pretty Sharon, how about that unexpected flash of blue in the tail feathers, fantastic!

Very cute. I think. I wonder if these are the same kind of little parrots that got loose and had gadzillions of babies in south Florida and flew all over the place making an ungodly racket? The look similar, but I think the south Florida ones were all green. I wonder if they're still flying around down there?

Nice images. Seeing them in wild is a rarity for. The only place I see them is in the pet stores.

It's wonderful to see them living free like that. I think I have mentioned before that we had pet ones at home when I was a kid and they were such fun when we let them fly around the house but they chew everything!

They are so cute! It's nice that they are just out in the trees like that. When I lived in Sarasota, Florida years ago I used to see wild parakeets in the trees in my backyard.

They are very handsome and seem to resemble wild parrots that I used to see in Guadalajara.

What a good find. You could do some research on them What is their favorite food? How much sun-shade-water do they prefer.

What a lucky find! Do you think these colonies started with pet birds that escaped? Or are they native to Arizona?

I do love the colours of parrots but they can be rather noisy.
