Garden Sculptures
There are two permanent sculptures at the Desert Botanical Garden that I don't think I've ever shown you. The one above is called "The Earth Has Been Good to Us" by Mashford Kanyemba. It's sculpted in Shona Opal stone. It sits in spot surrounded by golden barrel cactus.
This one is called "Lonely Flight" by Lawrence Mukomberanwa. This sculpture was donated to the garden by Zuva Gallery and the artist. I think they both blend well into their desert surroundings.

I especially like that first one. It's quite massive and solid, but there is somehow a maternal softness to it too!
They sit perfectly in their surroundings!
Such a nice addition to the garden. I like "The Earth Has Been Good to Us" reminding me of Nefertiti... :-)
They DO both work well in that desert environment. The stone in the top one is very unusual.
What a setting! Love the head on the right (top shot).
I wish that we were as good to the earth! The top sculpture suggests great abundance; both of them appeal to me.
The top sculpture is really great !
These are perfect for the settings and I like them especially because while they are abstract, there's enough there to give you a sense of what they're all about.
I like them both and would be quite happy to see them every day!
Both are very striking!
Both are very striking!
Both really stand out well!
Very nice! I don't remember seeing them.
Those are both wonderful. I like the sense of movement in the second shot.
I don't remember it. Beats the hell out of a Travelocity-style gnome, though.
We once ran into a very strange scene where a professional photographer was shooting the Travelocity mascot at the bottom and observation deck of the Calgary Tower. It lives.
I like them both very much Sharon, especially the first, they look very much at home here.
