The Belle of the Ball

I spent some time last Saturday at a huge antique market place in Scottsdale where I ran across this dress for sale.  The bright orange color stood out from everything else in this booth.  I can't imagine wearing a gown this bright to any event.  But, I have to admit that my very first formal gown did have a big flouncy, net skirt like this one.  It was just a much more subtle pastel color.

Lowell might look fine in this NY Eve.

Re Birdman: What???

It reminds me of the gowns worn at the high school proms in the 50s. I said, "reminds." I don't recall seeing any exactly like this.

Perhaps the Birdman has been snacking on too many fermented berries? Oui?

I remember your first formal but I thought it was white. Anyway, the lady that wore this number didn't have to worry about being a wall flower.

I love it! I'd only worry that the top wouldn't stay up! ;-)

It's gorgeous! You can wear that one and I'll wear the one that's scheduled for tomorrow on VDP. Then we go to the New Year's Eve ball, ok? ;-)

Orange is about my favorite color but this dress still reminds me of Carol Burnett's comment as she came down the stairs (in a Gone With the Wind takeoff) and responded to Rhett Butler's compliment by saying it was just something she saw in the window. It was, of course, the drapes . . complete with curtain rod. Makes me laugh every time I see it.

It's beautiful!
I wish sometimes to be able to go back to younger years... for a couple of hours at a time.

Awww, c'mon, Sharon. Give it a try. I think the fancy orange gown looks good. Shake it up!
