Coping with the heat

One method for coping with the extreme heat we get here in the desert is with "misters."  The above photo shows the misters along the mall area at Biltmore Fashion Park shopping center.

Restaurants also use misters to cool down their patio dining areas but, as you can see from the above photo, people still don't sit outside when the temperatures soar above 105 degrees (42 C).  We usually reserve outdoor dining for the fall, winter, and spring months.

That's a good way to cool down, but when the heat is that high it won't help. It will only be humid. Nice restaurant though! :D

42 degrees? How...it gets so hot even in the States! These misters help only a bit...they are getting very popular in India also, esp for outdoor seating in the eve...

I was in Phoenix once and it was in the summer. It was HOT, HOT... so I can understand how useful theses water misters can be.

Great for a moment's respite but sitting under them too long just leaves you limp!

What amazes me is the use of such a sparse resource as water!

You'd never get me outside in that kind of temperature! :-)

Here's another fact. I don't like to hold an umbrella while I eat. hahahahahahaha

Gosh that made me think about our summer with a blast of heat Sharon.. Thank goodness we're still in the middle of winter :)

Those misters do help but they are not too good for the hairdo.

Something we don't see much of here- the closest thing would be the water systems on the grass in some parks.

My hair would be a ball of fuzz if I got blasted by one of those!

Judy hates the misters and avoids them at all costs. I kinda like them.

I honestly don't know how you take that intense heat.

I don't think I could handle that heat anymore.

It's helping but not much and certainly not with the hair :-)

Misters always make me think of greenhouses.

I've never seen this before but it surely makes sense.
