Holidays at the Hacienda
This actually is the Eliot Patio of the Webster Auditorium at the Desert Botanical Garden. Construction for this adobe building began in 1939, a year after the state granted the land to the Arizona Cactus and Native Flora Society which founded the Desert Botanical Garden. Today the building is used for meetings, weddings and other events. Right at the moment, they have set up a "Chihuly in the Garden" shop with all kinds of Chihuly related items for sale. When the garden isn't busy, I like to sit on this patio and imagine what it would have been like to live here in the 1940's.

I can see why, beautiful looking patio
Gorgeous, and a real step back in time!
The hacienda's are always so beautiful this time of year. We'd forgotten. LOVED your photo of the year!
Happy New Year. Here's to another great year of photoblogging.
Janis & David
As I recall you posted a poinsettia tree for Randy's pleasure awhile back; he should like this one. Yes, the hacienda would be such a delightful home. I'd like one now!!
Nice little patio so well decorated!
I would have expected some beautiful decorations at the Garden and I am not disappointed.
This is unique!
It must have been grand, Sharon!
I was in that area in the 1950s. It wasn't nearly so crowded. I think the population of Phoenix was 150,000.
Lovely tree...there's something about poinsettias!
I can see you have found a great place for pondering.
What a beautiful place.
A beautiful setting!
Beautiful Xmas tree and beautiful patio too.
