Just before leaving the Carefree area and entering the Tonto National Forest, I saw this golf course. That bright green is unmistakable against the desert foothills. We had a monsoon rain storm the night before so it was a reasonably pleasant morning for a game of golf.

Could they also turn the rest of the desert into an oasis?
What an amazing contrast, the grass is like a carpet!
I have a feeling that I could get around that course elatedly! :)
I remember a short course in Tempe that had lights for night golf and we would play in the dark and hitting the ball up over the lights to only God knows where and hearing it bounce on rocks out in the desert where we dared not look! Wonder if that place is still there.
This is a glorious scene. God would have put a lush, green golf course in this setting, if only He knew how.
Always get a kick out of the greenery in the middle of the desert on AZ courses.
And WHAT a water bill!
It does make a pretty scene but I'm not that comfortable with using our precious ground water for this. Please tell me this is watered with recycled waste water.
This makes a lovely shot!
That is an awesome backdrop for a golf course Sharon, I'm afraid even if I did play gold I would be totally distracted by the rugged beauty of the mountains.
I can't get over the contrast with the desert, Sharon!
Golf courses seem to me to be a desert in the otherwise interesting landscape. I guess I'd see it differently if I played the game. I imagine in your area this one uses more than its fair share of water to maintain the greenness
I worry that golf courses are maybe using too much precious water to be so green......the mountains are spectacular! Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
It looks like one of our courses here.
Fabulous, Sharon. I have played some desert courses. It is always eery to stand on a green ruglike surface and see rocks and sand and cacti just past the edge. The best of these courses require shots over the desert. That is more control of the golf shot than I often have.
Fabulous place to play golf, shame I can not play.
Great contrast between foreground and background!
Wonderful contrasts between the green and the desert!! And also the flat golf course against the mountains!! Well shot!!
What a view! Almost makes me want to take up golf.
I know that I get tiresome about this, but I don't think golf courses are really a good idea in areas where drought and water shortages are constant considerations. Beautiful as they are, I don't really enjoy seeing them.
