Taliesin West, part 2
Frank Lloyd Wright had a special affection for all things Asian and he added these doors to the entrance to the theatre at Taliesin West. The gong on the side is another Asian touch along with the ceramic figure on the roof.
In fact, there are several Asian ceramic scenes imbedded in the walls all around the property.
Here are two of them.
In addition to the students who are living on the property, there are several apprentices who also make Taliesin their home. I'll show you the work of one of them later this week after theme day.

Fantastic oriental details! At first one might think they don't fit in, but I actualy like the contrast.
I visited there many decades ago and it's time to go back. That door pops right out of the photo!
Time to go back... how could I forget most of these details?
Great pictures.
Interesting. I like the orange door.
Such nice touches. Beautiful shots.
Wow, the doors in particular add a real zap of colour!
i love those little scenes scattered about! So unlike his modern aesthetic.
What an intriguing dwelling....can anyone go inside? Who decides who will receive a residency? Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
Mary, yes anyone can take a tour which includes the inside. The Foundation would make decisions about who lives there now.
The Asian influence in Wright's work is pretty apparent.
