A few weeks ago when I attended the opening of a new Library, I took this photo of these very lovely young women who make up a Mariachi Band. It's not common to see an all female Mariachi Band so I asked if I could take their photograph and they said yes. Members of a Mariachi Band traditionally dress in "charro" style clothing heavily adorned with silver details.
The silver on the side of their skirts are called Botonaduras.

Nice band, would love to hear their music.
Nice, do they have a web site where we can hear some of their music?
Are they going to be playing at DBG in December?...looks like a group I saw featured on their website.
I would never identify Mariachi as my favorite kind of music yet when I hear it, I cannot help from tapping my feet. The women look terrific in their "uniform" and I imagine it was terrific.
Mariachi is definitely happy music and I don't think I've ever even seen a female as part of a group.
There were women in a Mariachi band at the Desert Botanical Garden at one of the functions there recently. I can't remember which one. I love to hear Mariachi Music. One year we went to a Christmas Mariachi concert, which was delightful.
They are indeed lovely young women and seem to be very proud of what they do. Love the silver accents.
It's a beautiful photo of a beautiful group. I remember a trip to Guaymas (not sure of the spelling) in 1960 with some friends...drove all night from Phoenix. That's where I first heard a mariachi band. In a restaurant. They were very good.
I am not sure I've ever heard of a woman in a Mariachi Band. I like seeing this and the silver buttons.
In New England, I don't think we have mariachi bands. But, I like being exposed to all kinds of music, so I would have enjoyed hearing them.
I'm not sure if I've heard Mariachi music or not, but I imagine it to be very happy music. Nice to see an all female group, great shot Sharon.
I love the silver details on their outfits. Cool to see an all-female group.
Great detailing!
yea, I would have loved to hear them play some music. over some dinner though :)
Love the Mariachi music. Been to several weddings with the mariachis. They really bring a happy fun atmosphere.
They look like our all female group. Bet they sound great.
Yes, that is unusual. How lucky to be there to hear them play!
Even the weak possibility to repeat this sewing work drives me crazy. Girls are beautiful.
Love the botonaduras! By the way, I didn't know the name but it makes sense, as it comes from boton = button or botão in portuguese. :-) Thanks, Sharon.
The Mariachi is called Mariachi Pasion. The website is www.mariachipasion.com. Mariachi Pasion is currently playing at the Desert Botanical Garden for Las Noches de las Luminarias, nightly except for Christmas eve and Christmas day, 5pm to 9pm. Mariachi Pasion has previously played at the DBG.
