Quite an investment in saguaros. I know those puppies don't come cheap! The desert trees are absolutely beautiful. I missed seeing the palo verdes bloom this spring.
Is it possible the saguaros came first and the house was built around them? We certainly do that in Vermont, leaving existing trees in place and designing the home to fit into the space remaining.
When one considers that it takes a saguaro about 80 years before it grows even one arm, those cacti are a lot older than the house. The cacti are older than Phoenix.
For the longest time, well until I visited Phoenix area, I thought these cactus were a myth. They are so huge and lovely. I would love a yard with many as this one.

Truly amazing landscape. Sure beats mowing and watering the lawn as in the Midwest!

That is pretty impressive Sharon, especially on hearing how old they must be.

I love how the home blends so well with the mountain and cacti...looks to be a safe fortress
now that is a lot of saguaros
Wow! You're right!
And what a nice yard it is! Lovely.
How interesting. I really like the mailbox stand. It's made from saguaro ribs isn't it?

I assume a saguaro is a giant cactus?
It makes an interesting yard. Those saguaros are huge!
I fixed my post.
I'm thinking that must have been a BIG job to transplant them!
