Julie has a cow skull that sits on the bench where I put on my shoes and socks in our Scottsdale house. When she sees your photo, she will probably want to decorate it.
I don't know about "decorated" skulls, but skulls are everywhere in the west. Our daughter has deer skulls in her yard. I brought home a snake skull from a trip in the Ocala National Forest (I guess I can't get it through my thick skull we no longer live in the west!) :-)
Not too appetizing a decoration for a restaurant I would think...

This is a lovely example of this rather gruesome practice!
This one looks like it's covered in mosaic tiles. Odd, but interesting, tool.

Great lighting on this one and I love the shadow.
What a great shot. Randy's right...love the lighting and shadow. It is an unusual decorating style, but this one is impressive.
This one is quite elaborate. It took some time to do all of that work. The lighting is nice in this picture.

Yes, this does look like a symbol of the West. A tile-covered skull. I don't think I need it over my mantel, though.
And I never get tired of seeing how different folks represent this southwestern symbol.
nice capture. i would like to see this a little zoomed out with the full shadow of the horns on the wall.
I never would have thought of putting tiles onto a skull. Interesting! Nice shadows.
You're right, common, but I haven't seen one decorated like this before!
i like the lighting on this image
Unique! Very different, Sharon!
Generally I dont't like to see 'remains' of dead animals, no matter which they are, but I find this one very cool.
