There is a wonderful display of BioMythic Masks created by artist Gwynn Popovic in the gallery at the Desert Botanical Garden. The masks blend textures and shapes of natural habitats to form three dimensional masks incorporating a variety of materials. The top photo is a close-up the mask named Shadow.

Aha! You got some goodies this time. Aren't they wonderful!
It's FANTASTIC, I love it! A mix of Middle East and Southeast Asia with an african touch. Great work.
That is so amazing. I wonder how long it took to make this.
This was an excellent exhibit and it was a fun evening to join you and other friends for the luminarias at the Desert Botanical Garden last Saturday evening.
They're beautiful, aren't they, Sharon? So detailed.
This is so beautiful and gives me some ideas too!
Fabulous piece! That Botanical Garden must be quite the place.
I think these are wonderful! Great artistry! Are they representative of Native American myths, or just mythology in general?
They are beuatifully intricate. I prefer the first one, shot closer and with more detail.
All three hospitals I mentioned today are teaching hospitals.
How fabulous. This is superb.
gorgeous!
Masks from many different cultures fascinate me, and this one is exquisite. It must be ceremonial, I'd guess.
