Tribute to Jake

Although I wasn’t his owner, I considered him part of my family. I had the distinct pleasure of caring for Jake and his sister Molly on many occasions when his real family was away from home. He was always the perfect house guest who brought joy and laughter to my quiet home. When I returned from work, I could count on Jake to greet me with some toy in his mouth as though offering me a gift to tell me how happy he was to see me. Jake was a gentle soul with dark eyes filled with canine wisdom and a heart big enough to share the love of many people.

Jake my friend, you will be missed by all of the people who loved you dearly.

Isn't it great to have a lovable canine for a friend? He looks to be a gentle, loving soul. So sad when these faithful friends leave us. We keep our dogs for a long time, in canine years that is but I still miss everyone of them that have died.
What fun and often hilarious memories we have of each one.

There are 'dog' people and then there is everyone else. Dogs rule!

such a nice tribute. My Mom just lost her dog of 16 years on Monday. sad week for many, but their spirits live on to be reunited later.

It almost seems a disservice to Jake to refer to him as a dog, so instead I'll simply state that he was the best friend I've ever had. Thanks, Sharon.

I read but rarely comment - but, I wanted to say - I'm sorry for your loss...even though you didn't own him - it seems he owned you in your heart.

Nice post about a sweet friend.

What a handsome face. Our animal friends are so special and they always leave us far too early.

It's so sad to loose a friend... I always 'dogsit' Floyd, my sister's dog, when she's away and he also welcomes me with a toy in his mouth.

Such a good-looking canine. My dog, Luigi, also greets me wagging his tail with a toy in his mouth whenever I come home.

I can feel the loss as I am a devoted dog-owner. I'm sorry to hear he has left. This is a wonderful tribute for an extra wonderful friend.
