Rocking Horse

I took a walk at Encanto Park last weekend where I saw this statue dedicated to childhood dreams.

The plaque says that it was donated by the Make-A-Wish Foundation back in 1989.  The artist is Snell Johnson.  It sits near the entrance to Enchanted Island, a small amusement park that I've never visited.  Did you have a rocking horse when you were a kid?

I had a horse suspended on a metal frame with springs, and I was always afraid the springs would pinch my fingers!

I had a real horse when I was a kid and when I got older but before that Grandpa made a horse for me with an old wooden barrel and the head off of an old broken rocking horse. Do you remember that? Then when I was in my 40's I got that big beautiful rocking horse that everyone pitched in to get for my birthday. The grandchildren loved it and now it's at Tiffany's so that her Grandchildren can love it.

I had one, it was a big rocking horse. I remember thinking that it had diamonds for eyes because they always sparkled. :) Love this sculpture, it's a beauty.

I think I did but that was so long ago that I can't be sure. I know it was before the coin-operated ones outside stores appeared.
