Open Arms

I've admired this mural on the side of the Roosevelt Community Church for a long time now and I finally got a photo (well, two actually) of it.  An article in a local business journal attributes it to three people in collaboration, Bishop Ortega, Larry Valencia and Anthony Vasquez.  I don't know the meaning behind it but since the church is a non-denominational church open to all, I would guess it is saying welcome no matter what your skin looks like or what you believe.  I'm just guessing!

I added this photo because someone was walking by and I thought it would give a good perspective of the size of the mural.

Interesting mural... maybe it is intended to represent a spiritual experience?

That seems like a good guess re. its meaning! I always like people in my street art photos -- they're good for scale, as you said.

The artists were lucky to have such a large expanse of white wall! Your explanation is interesting but I wonder about the geometric figures exploding from the brain.

It is so well done, Sharon! Your explanation works for me!

Like Pat I love your theory on the meaning of this wonderful mural Sharon, if only all religions were as accepting ✨

Admittedly it's a bit bizarre to my view.

Openness all around. I like it. When I enlarged the second photo I found there were TWO people walking by! I is almost completely "hidden" by the mural.
