Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day in the U.S., a day we celebrate the lives of our fallen soldiers.  I'm revisiting the Viet Nam Memorial located in the Wesley Bolin Plaza, the park that sits directly across the street from the Arizona State Capitol.  The name of this statue is "Fallen Warrior" and it is flanked by pillars on which the names of Arizona's sons who were lost in that war.

We never must forget...

58,000 US personnel lost and over 3 million Vietnamese - all because of some stupid U.S. leaders chasing oil, operating under the discredited "Domino Theory." We need to remember those terrible people who had the power to send so many of our youth to their deaths in the jungles of Vietnam in the hope, at least, it doesn't happen again. But, with our current crop of stupid leaders, it may happen again. They don't understand that nobody wins in a war!
