Theme Day: Library

It's the first of September, where has this year gone?  As most of you know, the first of the month is always "Theme Day" for City Daily Photo bloggers and the September theme is Library.  I took a drive downtown to catch a photo of our main public library.  The sign above points toward the library parking lot.

The building itself is a modern structure with glass walls on both ends.  On the north (in this photo) there are sail-like extensions to shade the windows.  On the south side are louvers that open and close.  And, you might be able to tell that the parking lot is covered and the shade structures have solar panels on top.  Tomorrow I'll show the views from inside.

I love the sign! Very eye-catching. The building is also really fancy and modern. Nothing like our libraries here. (The one I used to go to is in a shopping mall!).

I've just had the best time going through your last posts Sharon, Phoenix is as fabulously vibrant as ever. Is it still very hot, you must be heading into autumn right? Love the look of your library, buildings there, as here, are designed for the heat oui 😃

Very interesting about the shades. We just don't have that much sun here.

That is magnificent and it's nice they went to such lengths to protect people willing to get out in the heat to go to the library!

I love the look of that library, Sharon! And how smart to put solar collectors on the shades in the parking lot!

Love that parking lot! Where but in Phoenix would you see that? Great way to shade cars and make electricity at the same time. Hope it powers the air conditioning in the library.

This is a fantastic library! I spent lots of time in the old one but it didn't hold a candle to this one.
