Theme Day: My City's Skyline

Getting skyline photos of Phoenix during the very hot summer months is a bit of a challenge.  There is a lot of heat distortion in the air and mixed with the inevitable city pollution, most of my shots were bit on the hazy side.  This one turned out the best after I had added a bit of contrast to help clear out the haze.

My favorite night time skyline shot is this one from a few years ago.  I took it in December when the air was crisp and clear.

On the first of every month, City Daily Photo bloggers post photos based on a theme.  The July theme is My City's Skyline.  To see how some other bloggers have addressed the theme, click here.

That's a nice skyline. It's definitely bigger than Tampa's (where I am now). Phoenix is probably a bigger city population-wise, but I'll have to look it up!

I kinda like a hazy city skyline - its atmospheric!

I think that finding an interesting skyline photo with tall buildings is a challenge, but you met it well! I particularly like the night shot, of course!

The night shot is superb. Phoenix really does have a nice skyline and that shows it off perfectly.

Both are good shots of what Phoenix looks like at different times and dates. There is a spot on the 202 just before the curve heading for I-17 where the city spreads out in a gorgeous panoramic vista, but you can't pull over and you better not slow down to get a picture. I was trying to figure out where you took the first one from.

The buildings look nice framed by the mountains. And your night shot is dazzling.

The night shot is so crystal clear, Sharon! It's nice to see the mountains in the day shot despite the haze!

I haven't been to Phoenix in 20 years. I'm sure the skyline has changed since then. At least it has a skyline to photograph!
