Domestic Duties

I was climbing the stairs in a parking garage when I spotted this pigeon sitting on a ledge in the stair well.  He just sat there keeping an eye on me as I made my way up the stairs.

When I rounded the corner on the landing I saw the "Mrs" sitting on a nest back in a hidden corner.  So I think Mr Pigeon was doing his domestic duty and watching out to keep the Mrs safe while she tends to her maternal chores.  Just a little slice of the domestic side of wildlife.

I don't think I've seen black pigeons before! Mr P is doing his job well protecting the missus 😃
P.s. 45C, oh la what a scorcher Sharon, will be at least seven months before we can expect those temps again!

So cute to see this pair going about daily pigeon life!

The Mr is either puffed up with pride or is a tad overweight!

From the way Senor Pigeon is holding his left claw, it's possible he's ready to attack. These are both wonderful photos, Sharon! The pigeons really are black. Ours are most gray/blue.

Love the second photo - so much, um, bird personality.

It's interesting how gray they are. Ours are more variegated, as are the ones in NYC (from what I remember). Keep an eye on the nest and see if you can spot a baby pigeon. Apparently they grow very fast.
