The Birds and the Bees

I didn't see any dedicated birdwatchers early Sunday morning on my walk at the Desert Botanical Garden.  I hate to tell them that they missed the perfect day for observing our feathered friends.  I captured some really great shots.  Above we have a female Lesser Goldfinch.

I'm not positive about this one but I think it's a female House Finch.

I believe this one is a male Verdin.

This one is an Anna's Hummingbird.

And this bright fellow is a male House Finch.

Let's not forget about the bees.  They were pretty active too!

All in all, it was a perfect morning for a walk and to observe nature at work.

This is amazing. Great photos, but how do you come to know the names of all these little feathered critters?

A really fine collection. I have only started photographing birds and I'm enjoying it. Fun trying to figure out what they are too :).

I have so many house finches I'm beginning to get tired of them. I had a female mountain jay this morning and a pair of goldfinches come by now and then.

You must have a very good camera to be able to stop those bees in flight and the hummingbird's wings. Great photos.

Excellent photos Sharon. I love seeing all of the birds and I'm glad you included the bees too!

By the way, after I read your comment on my Liberty Bell post today, I did a search for Arizona's Liberty Bell and found out it is located in the courtyard of your state capitol and was recently refurbished. Here is a link to an article about it: http://tucsoncitizen.com/ss/local/95641.php

Lovely, Sharon. Your shots of the hummingbird and the bees suggest steady hands and a fast lens.

Your bird shots are so interesting. I love birds but we have a shortage of them here the past two years?
