Year of the Monkey

Scottsdale Fashion Square was having a Year of the Monkey celebration on Saturday to bring in the Chinese Lunar New Year.

There were graceful dancers in beautiful costumes.

Flag dancers, twirling their flags.

And, this lovely lady playing the Pipa, a Chinese stringed instrument.  She was very good and played some relaxing songs.

It was one of those shopping day surprises!

I have a new post on Sharon's Sojourns today.  I'm featuring another visit to the Vatican Museums.

That was a super surprise Sharon, I love the costumes.. the ladies always look so feminine and fragile in their beautiful costumes. I'm guessing as I'm a tiger in the Chinese calendar it's not going to be my year :)

What a great collection of photos! I'm getting more and more interested in Asian cuisine since I am trying to convert to a plant based diet. Yesterday I went to a ShenYun dance and music performance in Minneaolis and what a delight. Heard a traditional two string instrument played as a solo piece; very interesting. Supposed to easily reproduce the sound of a human voice.

So that's the name of that instrument!
