Sunday at the Shemer

Before heading downtown to the art museum, I stopped at the Sunday at the Shemer Family Arts Festival for a quick visit.  There were a lot more artists there than I remember from previous shows and it was fun looking at all the beautiful creations.

In the far right of the top photo you can see a painting hanging on one of the booths.  This is a closer look at that one.  I took this photo with the telephoto lens and I just now noticed that "No Photos" sign on the right side of the painting so, don't tell anyone I took this picture.  It'll be our little secret.

LOL! I never understand why artists don't want photos taken. Instead they should just specify that whoever takes them credit the artist, and that artist would get a lot more advertising. They need to WORK the system, not FIGHT it. :)

We missed our show this year but many of the vendors have the same sign up! I guess what with today's camera, you could take a great picture of a painting, enlarge it and hang it and no one would know the difference. I won't tell on you, though, 'cause I've done the same thing, if you can believe that!

Ouch! THe colours are wonderful!

I wish what Steve said was true though because I agree with him. But people just don't do it. They don't give a **** about crediting...

They don't want pics taken because often a pic is sent off-shore and the painting or sculpture gets copied and ends up being sold in stores all over the place with no money or credit to the artist. Plus the quality of the repros is terrible. I know glass artists, potters, and painters that have had this happen to them.

It happens from time to time when we don't see the sign until after the fact. Beautiful colours in that painting.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to turn you into the photography police! ;-)
I do like the painting though. It's always fun to visit an art fair.

I got chewed out for taking a picture at an art fair on the Square in Prescott without asking permission. Now if the artist is present I always ask permission.

No one will hear it from me Sharon :) It is a lovely painting though and deserves a bit of exposure!

I am always so disappointed when photography is not allowed.
