Housewarming Gift

A friend of mine gave me a gorgeous orchid plant as a housewarming gift and I was just a bit afraid what might happen to it in my care.  I think I've mentioned before that I am sadly lacking in plant growing talent.

However, I am happy to report that it seems to be thriving and is simply blooming up a storm.  I love seeing it every day and seeing new blooms pop out.  I took several photos of the blooms yesterday.  Now I think I need to get the macro lens out and see what kind of very close shots I can get.  It is certainly a beautiful subject.

City Daily Photo bloggers post photographs on a theme on the first day of each month.  On
February 1, they will address this intriguing question:  If you had to leave forever the city
from which you usually post, what would you miss most?

It appears you are doing fine! We were given one of these, too, and it's still looking good. If we can do it, anyone can! They are beautiful for sure.

They are really beautiful. My sister has them in her room as well.

Marvelous! It has found the perfect spot in your house, don't ever move it from where it stands.

I have one that blooms every year and I never move it from its location just in case it doesn't like the move. Your is a beauty, Sharon!

I make them wilt. :-( I'm glad you don't!

You and me both. Nothing lacking in the composition and lighting skills, though.

Such a lovely color! I have not had very good luck with these, so I will keep my fingers crossed.

That poor thing would scream for help if it was given to me.

I'd be hopeless trying to keep plants alive. Beautiful, though!

Your orchid is beautiful. I think this is the time when your normally brown thumb will turn green.

It's lovely! My daughter gave me an orchid similar to this one when I retired almost three years ago. I am happy to report that it is still blooming. I have never been able to have that much success with any plant!
