For the View

Every now and then I take a drive way out to north Scottsdale and wander around the foothills to look at the houses.  There are quite a few that sit on the mountainside and most like this one have long patios so residents and can take in the view.

And that view can be quite nice.  Like this one of the McDowell mountains.  I even managed to capture a wind devil on the left side of this photo.  Wind devils are little mini-tornados of dirt and dust that the wind has managed to stir up.

I think I would worry about the mountain coming down on the house

Magnificent view and a very impressive home.

Grand view here, and thanks for the explanation of what is a wind devil, I thought it is a smoking chimney...

The desert has a real strong hold on my heart.

I'll take the views, but can leave the dirt, dust for others. Won't need a lawnmower that's for sure!

These photos make me nostalgic. We lived in Scottsdale (not in the foothills, though) and it's all so familiar. That wind devil is wonderful!

I worked as an insurance investigator in the area for several years and I remember checking out a house in the foothills. At the time it cost over $30,000 - that was a fortune and the house was stunning!

What a spectacular view! I've seen wind devils rather close up- though up here they get the moniker dust devil.

I just spoke to someone this morning who was heading down tomorrow to their place in Scottsdale for the winter. Lucky people. ;-)

Always a nice view from there!
I call them "dust devils". Either way, they are annoying.

The view is wonderful, but the house doesn't do much for me. I can envision a different house on that site that would really get me excited.

Excellent timing. Do houses like this have their own wells or draw water from the city? It seems like the live or die question in your area.

Love the view! And the house too, although I think landslides would come to my mind now and then if I lived there... ;-)
