Indian Fair & Market, Part 3

The White Mountain Apache Dancers were part of the entertainment on the amphitheater stage.  Above  the patriarch of the family is explaining the dances to the audience.

We saw the Buffalo Dance which honors the spirit of the buffalo who gives his life to nourish the people.

Then we saw the beautiful Butterfly Dance featuring this lovely young woman in a colorful costume.

The back, or the butterfly wings, was every bit as beautiful as any butterfly I've seen fluttering around.

I'm not done yet, I'll have some more photos from this great event tomorrow.

Amazing costume, such colour and detail, good to have the meaning of the various dances explained to the audiences too.

Hi Sharon, I've just been catching up on your last posts.. You have some wonderfully vibrant fascinating photos here.. There were so many children all over the world, including here in Oz that were taken from their parents in the name of 'good'..
P.s. I did think of turning my spare room into a studio, but I really do make a mess when I paint, so its better done outdoors :) might turn it into a gym :)

The preservation of indigenous cultural traditions is very important.

What a wonderful experience, to see all the entries for this Indian Market. The traditional costumes are always bright and vibrant. You did a great job of photographing them for our pleasure.

I believe it's regalia rather than costume :-). One day, I'm hoping to go...

Wonderful photos. And I think the pink and blue hair style has made a comeback. I didn't know it had a Native American origin!
