We serve everyone!

These signs are showing up in the windows of a very large percentage of Arizona businesses who are taking a stand against a bill that was passed in our state legislature making it legal for businesses to refuse to serve gay, lesbian, or transgender people on the grounds of fundamental religious beliefs.  As a rule, I try to stay away from controversial issues but, this one has once again put my beautiful state of Arizona in a bad light across the country and the world.  The bill has not been signed into law yet, and hopefully it never will but, a lot of damage has already been done to Arizona's reputation through the national coverage.

I guess the reason I'm posting this is so that you know that the vast majority of Arizonans are appalled by this piece of legislation and that all major businesses in Arizona along with our two U.S. Senators are advising the governor to veto this misguided and hateful piece of legislation.

Governor Brewer, please Veto SB 1062!

If your governor is at all astute, she will veto this horrendous bill. Misguided politicians too often give the wrong impression of a city or state, but thoughtful people are going to be more broadminded. It is hurtful when this occurs in a place one loves. Don't worry; despite the bad press, Arizonans can stand tall about their beautiful state.

Just goes to show politicians are sometimes far removed from what ordinary people think! This was a nice post to start the day, thank you.

Agreed. The good news is that it appears Brewer is going to do the right thing with this nonsense.

We are all waiting on pins and needles for the governor to veto this discriminatory bill! Good post for this trying week.

It is sooo good to see this sign and to read your commentary. It seems we fight the same old battles over and over again. Back in the 60s it was the Goldwater faction trying to drag Arizona back to the Stone Age. Nice to know that most Arizonans reject this bill and the thinking behind it.

It seems to be getting harder to not be in a constant state of outrage these days! I hope the veto goes through, Sharon.

What in the world is going on with our state legislature. They have done it again. I hope Gov Brewer does the right thing and vetoes this piece of legislation based on prejudice.

One hopes the governor does the right thing and vetoes this stupidity. These legislators who voted for it, at least from the outside looking in, seem hellbent on pandering to a narrow base that's incredibly narrow minded.

It comes down to civil rights, and these legislators are trying to set the clock back by decades.

I have seen editorial cartoon work by a guy by the name of Fitzsimmons down your way. He's not impressed by it either.

Crazy! Doesn't the Arizona legislature have real issues to address instead of this cuckoo stuff?

So happy to see that Gov. Brewer vetoed this bill. I was getting alot of teasing at work about my home state.

And, thankfully, she did. But like you said, a lot of damage has already been done by the idiot legislators.

I think Governor Brewer is basking in the limelight and the publicity. Every time I see her on TV with more news about this travesty, she is all smiles. Come on, Jan, do the right thing!

I guess news is slow here in rural EAst Texas. Just read that Governor Brewer vetoed that nasty bill.

Not only am I glad for the veto, but equally glad to read all these comments. Next we need to allow all Arizonians to marry whomever they choose.
