A Teaching Moment

Momma is teaching the young ones how to forage!

The Gambel's Quail at the botanical garden have been very busy.  The last time I was there, I saw babies everywhere all being watched over by their dutiful parents.

And I am going to commit to use "forage" in a sentence before I forget it.

They are so cute! We have some quail nesting somewhere on our property. I see them in the mornings but have yet to see any chicks.

That's an adorable sight Sharon, it's the job of mothers whatever shape or form they take oui :)

I like their little topknots!

They look so young! Just out of the nest! But mother quail has learned an important lesson - get the kids equipped to go out on their own and thereby gain your own freedom! :)
